Gaming News Canada welcomes aboard Dave Briggs
The former managing editor of PlayCanada and other Catena Media news sites will be holding the keyboard for a twice-weekly newsletter on the business of sports betting and gaming.
Since Gaming News Canada launched in February 2021, your humble correspondent/host has pretty much flown solo when it came to the reporting, writing and interviewing leaders in the legal business of sports betting and gaming for our weekly written and audio dispatches.
That’s about to change to the benefit of the folks who subscribe to this media oulet.
Dave Briggs, who covered the industry for the better part of the past three years as Catena Media’s managing editor of PlayCanada.com, PlayMichigan.com and PlayPennsylvania.com, is bringing his reporting and writing chops to Gaming News Canada. Beginning this week, Briggs will author newsletters on Wednesday and Friday mornings (with the freedom to call the occasional audible to write on another day) and move the insightful reporting he’s done over the past month in his Canadian Content newsletter over to GNC.
We are resurrecting People on the Move and Classified (Jobs) Information, so please drop a note to steve@gamingnewscanada.ca if you have a tidbit for either one of those sections. Dave will be focused on continuing the (un)cover the biggest stories on the gaming beat in the true north, strong and free. These days, that includes the continuing comings and goings in Ontario’s regulated industry – including the hiring of Martha Otton’s successor to lead iGaming Ontario - the case in front of the Court of Appeal for Ontario to determine if it is legal for Ontario gambling operators to offer betting pools beyond Ontario’s borders, the road to regulation in Alberta, whether or not the federal government will follow the Senate’s lead and pass Bill S-269, and more.
